New Puppy joins the Family

I did not post all last week because we got a puppy!!! She is adorable.
We had a Boston Terrier, we got him when we were 22-23 I think. We had been living together for 2 years, we did not train him at all (our poor roommates!) and he was this amazing surly old man all the to the end. Now we have 80lb Lab mix, who doesn't realize how big he is. He is well mannered for the most part, we are not super trainers, but he has the basics down.

For about a year and half we have talked about getting another dog. It's not an easy decision, we have busy lives and animals are expensive and take a lot of time.

We made the decision last November to start seriously looking at adopting a rescue dog. We both wanted a puppy, for multiple reasons. I had filled out about a dozen applications, not realizing it was rolling up on Christmas and never got a call back. Being like fourth or tenth in line for a pupper.

So I got tired of getting my hopes up and decided to take a break from applying. At t…

Its the 4th... almost.

I am fortunate enough to have Friday the 1st off, a last minute thank you from my employer.  So, I am spending the day prepping for a weekend of camping. This time we are off to Ohiopyle state park. We have done a decent amount of day hikes in a corner of this massive state forest. There are natural water slides, hiking, biking, canoeing, fishing, all the great amenities of a large state park.
Falling Water is literally right around the corner and we have yet to stop in, regardless of how many times we have said "we should stop in there one of these days." One day it will happen!
Too much stuff:
Tent, bed rolls, sleeping bags, clothes for 4 (and extra for lil' man), eating/ cooking utensils, camp stove, lantern, bikes, fishing gear, swimming gear, camp chairs, a few toys and us... if there is room in the van.
We have some food packed, but we are banking on the farmers market Sat. afternoon and maybe a local eatery to have a beer. Alcohol is prohibited in the campgrounds and, I believe, within the forest lines. It's one of those good things/ bad things. It will be nice to not have to hear the belligerent into the wee hours, but there is something about sitting around a campfire and having a nice cold beer on a hot summer eve in the woods.
Cheers to a fun and relaxing weekend!
